Product description

Skjold 13 is a new and bigger version of our Skjold tarp. The tarp comes in one color, dark green, making it perfect for camouflage in forest scenery. Skjold 13 comes with its own spacious stuff sack, guylines (with reflective threads) and stakes, all you need to set up the tarp, over your hammock or a campsite on the ground. Skjold 13 is your go-to if you've been waiting for a bigger tarp from Amok!

  • The tarp's lightweight fabric is extremely strong for its weight, and the slippery siliconized surface has an improved ability to shed water and snow.
  • Skjold 13 is ready to be deployed between two trees or set up using your trekking poles or sticks.
  • The buckles on the guylines are easy to adjust and slip-resistant - no knots necessary.
  • Reflective guylines, adjusters and micro carabiners are pre-attached.
  • Keep your guylines sorted using the attached, new, guyline-holders made from silicone. Six lightweight stakes are included, all with reflective pull cords, making them easier to spot in the dark.
  • Skjold 13 packs easy by stuffing it into the generous stuff sack. The tarp is perfect for Draumr Double, it will also give you plenty of room around the hammock used in combination with Draumr 5.0, Draumr UL or Segl XL.

Developed by Norwegian outdoor engineers.

Check out our dark green guyline (non-reflective) if you want to convert your Skjold 13 to stealth mode.

FAQs

Everything you need to set it up! The tarp comes with a suspension system, guylines, and tarp stakes. Seam sealer is also included if you need to seam seal your tarp.

The Skjold 10 tarp comes with all the parts for easy plug and play. Guylines are attached to eight points on the tarp. Two of the guylines have small carabiners attached for Draumr setup. The stuff sack has a small pocket containing 6 stakes for attaching the remaining guylines.

The tarp has reinforced corners for tarp-poles or a stick if that's your weapon of choice. This allows you to pitch the tarp in "porch-mode" which gives you a nice view of your surroundings while protected from the weather.

Move the carabiners around (or add more) for a different setup.

We're working on a video to show you some examples.

Skjold 13 is approximately 30% larger than Skjold 10. The numbers behind "Skjold" are an indication of square meters, meaning that Skjold 10 is approx. 10 square meters and Skjold 13 is approx. 13 square meters. Compared to Skjold 10, Skjold 13 has a more rectangular shape, but you can still pull the corners of the tarp inwards to create doors and better shelter against the weather. Skjold 10 has one long seam going from head- to foot end, Skjold 13 has two seams going across.

Skjold 13 comes with our new silicone guyline-holders pre-attached. They make it even easier keeping your guylines in place and untangled during transportation.

Skjold 13 is made from the same fabric as our previous Skjold 10 UL tarp, 15D Nylon DRS. Both tarps are treated with silicone which makes them great at shedding snow and rain. The water column for both tarps is 3000 mm. Skjold 10 and Skjold 13 come with their own stuff sack, 6 aluminium stakes, 8 guylines and two small carabiners that indicate suspension points for use with our Draumr hammocks.

In the picture you can see Skjold 10 laid on top of Skjold 13 for comparison.

165 x 132 in (420 x 335 cm)

(approx. 13 m² coverage)

Skjold 13 is made from the same fabric as our now discontinued Skjold 10 Ultralight tarp, 15D Nylon DRS. Seeing as we've been satisfied with its strength, durability and sewing, this fabric will be standard for our tarps going forward. A lot of our customers also appreciate the possibility to shave a few grams off the total weight of what they're carrying, and also to save a bit of room in the pack when going on longer trips.

The short and easy answer is no. We currently don't have any other colors planned for Skjold 13. It will be available in the dark green color, and we hope that those of you who really wanted camo to come back will see the Skjold 13 as a good alternative. With our new spare part, non-reflective Guyline, you can convert the Skjold 13 to stealth mode by replacing the grey guylines (with reflective thread), to our dark green guylines without reflective thread.

Skjold 13 is a new size of our Skjold tarp-series, Skjold 10 is also be available in the same dark green color. That means that our Skjold tarps are available in two sizes, Skjold 10 is approximately 10 m² and Skjold 13 is approx. 13 m².
