Lightweight tarp, with guylines and stakes.

Size chart

The Draumr Double hammock is available in one size, and it is specifically designed to accommodate two long wide (LW) sized inflatable sleeping pads. LW-pads are 198 cm long and 65 cm wide (78 x 25.5 in). Amok and several other manufacturers make these kinds of pads.

Compared to a standard length Draumr hammock for one person (which is also used with a similar LW-pad), the Draumr Double will feel longer when in use. The Draumr Double uses two LW-sized pads. Between the two pads is a middle section that reduces compression of the pads and helps maintain a flat surface. Combined with some extra space in the foot- and head-end of the hammock the sleeping surface is longer, making the Draumr Double feel more spacious than a standard length single-person Draumr.

Suitable for users up to 190 cm / 6’2 ft.

Draumr Double is especially well-suited for users up to 190 cm / 6’2 ft.. The hammock is designed to be long and comfortable for individuals up to this height. We have established a high standard for comfort. So if you are 195 or 200 cm tall, the hammock will still work for you, but some individuals at this height might prefer a hammock that was a few centimetres longer.

You can safely place an order and test the hammock in regards to length, as our 100 day risk free trial period allows you to do just that!

Will there be a Draumr Double XL?

No, that is currently not on our agenda. There are several reasons for this, and we’ll try to explain some of them below.

When developing a product, cost-benefit and priorities are key factors. If we were to make a Draumr Double XL hammock, our experience tells us many would buy it simply because it’s called “XL” and therefore presumably “bigger and better”. For those under 190 cm / 6’2 ft., an XL hammock would mean reduced comfort in chair mode (less optimal neck support) and a less flat lying experience. Material usage, pack-size and weight would be increased and it would also force our customers to buy XL-pads, that we’re currently the only ones selling. We prefer that LW-pads that we and other manufacturers make can be used in the Draumr Double, resulting in a more reasonable price for all, rather than a bigger profit for us.

In a family where one of the adults is 190 cm / 6’2 ft. and a child is 150 cm / 4´9 ft. , the shared experience in the Draumr Double will be better in a LW-sized Draumr Double, than in an XL one. The child would not be able to lie flat, and chair mode would be less comfortable in a hammock that is too long. This isn’t necessarily intuitive and easy to understand if you don’t have any previous experience with Draumr hammocks. But it is something that we can see very clearly, and something most of our customers experience themselves when they have the chance to test the Draumr and the Draumr XL side by side.

There are, of course, couples or friends where both individuals are over 190 cm / 6’2 ft.. A Draumr Double XL could offer additional space, but then again we want to point out that those over 190cm / 6’2 ft. can use the Draumr Double in the “LW-size”.

We want to make sure that as many as possible get a good shared experience in the Draumr Double and avoid that a lot of people have to buy extra pads in the XL-size. As the number of people that would need an XL-version is lower than the target audience for the Draumr Double, a Draumr Double XL is not a priority.

We are not the only ones making LW-sized sleeping pads, so for all of you that own a suitable LW-pad from Exped, Mountain Equipment, Big Agnes and others - you can safely use your sleeping pad in the Draumr Double.

Can be used with an XL-pad

Even though the Draumr Double is designed for LW-sized sleeping pads, the hammock can be used with LW- (198 x 65 cm / 78 x 25.5 in) AND XL-sized (220 x 65 cm) pads. An XL pad will have to be folded downwards (in the foot end) to fit the pad pocket. This works surprisingly well, we’ve tested it ourselves! Check out the video below to see it.

Product description

Skjold 10 is a lightweight Silicone Nylon Tarp that comes with guylines and stakes. Skjold 10 is perfect for your outdoor adventure and will protect you and your gear from the elements. The tarp can be used alone, as a shelter, as extra protection for your tent or over your hammock.

  • The tarp's lightweight fabric is extremely strong for its weight, and the slippery siliconized surface has an improved ability to shed water and snow.
  • Skjold 10 is ready to be deployed between two trees or set up using your trekking poles or sticks.
  • Reflective guylines, adjusters and micro carabiners are pre-attached.
  • The buckles on the guylines are easy to adjust and slip-resistant - no knots necessary.
  • Keep your guylines sorted using the attached, new, guyline-holders made from silicone.
  • Six lightweight stakes are included, all with reflective pull cords, making them easier to spot in the dark.
  • Skjold 10 packs easy by stuffing it into the generous stuff sack.

Developed by Norwegian outdoor engineers.

Check out our dark green guyline (non-reflective) if you want to convert your Skjold 10 to stealth mode.

Everything you need to set it up! The tarp comes with a suspension system, guylines, and tarp stakes. Seam sealer is also included if you need to seam seal your tarp.

The Skjold tarps come with all parts for easy plug and play. Guylines are attached to eight points on the tarp. Two of the guylines have small carabiners attached for Draumr setup. The stuff sack has a small pocket containing 6 stakes for securing the remaining guylines.

The tarp has reinforced corners for tarp-poles or a stick if that's your weapon of choice. This allows you to pitch the tarp in "porch-mode" which gives you a nice view of your surroundings while protected from the weather.

Move the carabiners around (or add more) for a different setup.

Our Skjold 10 tarp and Skjold 13 tarp in dark green color are made from the same 15D Nylon DRS fabric as our discontinued Skjold 10 Ultralight tarp. We've been very happy with its strength, durability, and how well it handles sewing. Because of this, it will be the standard fabric for our tarps moving forward. As a bonus, it helps you cut a few grams from your pack weight and saves space in your backpack.

You don’t need to seam-seal your tarp for general use, but we recommend it if you expect heavy or sustained rain. The tarp is made from high-quality silicone-coated fabric, which is extremely waterproof. However, the seams - like with all silicone tarps - can still allow some water through.

That’s why we include a seam sealing kit. Applying it is a one-time process: just stretch out the tarp, apply the sealer along the seams, and let it dry for at least 24 hours. It's a bit of work, but it ensures your tarp is 100% waterproof.

Our manufacturing partners don’t pre-seal the seams because the process is time-consuming and requires a lot of space, sealing it yourself gives you maximum protection when conditions get rough.

Watch our instructional video on how to seam-seal your tarp for a step-by-step demonstration.
