Norwegian-designed double comfort! The only well-functioning double hammock on the market! Travel with your own double bed and sofa.

Size chart

The Draumr Double hammock is available in one size, and it is specifically designed to accommodate two long wide (LW) sized inflatable sleeping pads. LW-pads are 198 cm long and 65 cm wide (78 x 25.5 in). Amok and several other manufacturers make these kinds of pads.

Compared to a standard length Draumr hammock for one person (which is also used with a similar LW-pad), the Draumr Double will feel longer when in use. The Draumr Double uses two LW-sized pads. Between the two pads is a middle section that reduces compression of the pads and helps maintain a flat surface. Combined with some extra space in the foot- and head-end of the hammock the sleeping surface is longer, making the Draumr Double feel more spacious than a standard length single-person Draumr.

Suitable for users up to 190 cm / 6’2 ft.

Draumr Double is especially well-suited for users up to 190 cm / 6’2 ft.. The hammock is designed to be long and comfortable for individuals up to this height. We have established a high standard for comfort. So if you are 195 or 200 cm tall, the hammock will still work for you, but some individuals at this height might prefer a hammock that was a few centimetres longer.

You can safely place an order and test the hammock in regards to length, as our 100 day risk free trial period allows you to do just that!

Will there be a Draumr Double XL?

No, that is currently not on our agenda. There are several reasons for this, and we’ll try to explain some of them below.

When developing a product, cost-benefit and priorities are key factors. If we were to make a Draumr Double XL hammock, our experience tells us many would buy it simply because it’s called “XL” and therefore presumably “bigger and better”. For those under 190 cm / 6’2 ft., an XL hammock would mean reduced comfort in chair mode (less optimal neck support) and a less flat lying experience. Material usage, pack-size and weight would be increased and it would also force our customers to buy XL-pads, that we’re currently the only ones selling. We prefer that LW-pads that we and other manufacturers make can be used in the Draumr Double, resulting in a more reasonable price for all, rather than a bigger profit for us.

In a family where one of the adults is 190 cm / 6’2 ft. and a child is 150 cm / 4´9 ft. , the shared experience in the Draumr Double will be better in a LW-sized Draumr Double, than in an XL one. The child would not be able to lie flat, and chair mode would be less comfortable in a hammock that is too long. This isn’t necessarily intuitive and easy to understand if you don’t have any previous experience with Draumr hammocks. But it is something that we can see very clearly, and something most of our customers experience themselves when they have the chance to test the Draumr and the Draumr XL side by side.

There are, of course, couples or friends where both individuals are over 190 cm / 6’2 ft.. A Draumr Double XL could offer additional space, but then again we want to point out that those over 190cm / 6’2 ft. can use the Draumr Double in the “LW-size”.

We want to make sure that as many as possible get a good shared experience in the Draumr Double and avoid that a lot of people have to buy extra pads in the XL-size. As the number of people that would need an XL-version is lower than the target audience for the Draumr Double, a Draumr Double XL is not a priority.

We are not the only ones making LW-sized sleeping pads, so for all of you that own a suitable LW-pad from Exped, Mountain Equipment, Big Agnes and others - you can safely use your sleeping pad in the Draumr Double.

Can be used with an XL-pad

Even though the Draumr Double is designed for LW-sized sleeping pads, the hammock can be used with LW- (198 x 65 cm / 78 x 25.5 in) AND XL-sized (220 x 65 cm) pads. An XL pad will have to be folded downwards (in the foot end) to fit the pad pocket. This works surprisingly well, we’ve tested it ourselves! Check out the video below to see it.

Draumr Double is designed to be used with two pads that are approximately 78 x 25.5 x 3.5 in (ca. 198 cm x 65 cm x 9 cm) – these dimensions are known as the industry standard Long Wide (LW). This means that you can use the Draumr Double with our LW-pads, or you can use pads from other brands if they have the same size and construction. See general and specific sleeping pad recommendations for Draumr Double below.

All you need to know about tarps for Draumr Double

A good tarp protects you and your gear from rain, wind, snow, and sun. Our Skjold tarps are designed for Draumr hammocks, but work just as well for regular hammocks or if you prefer to sleep directly on the ground. What makes Skjold work so well with Draumr is its asymmetrical shape and the fact that the tarp is longer at the foot end, thus covering Draumr with its unique construction. Skjold comes in two sizes, Skjold 10 is approximately 10 square meters, while Skjold 13 is 3 square meters larger.

  • Our Skjold tarps come with their own packing bag, 6 pegs, and two carabiners. Guylines and guyline holders are permanently attached to the tarp.
  • The color-coded carabiners indicate how to hang the tarp in Draumr mode.

What should you consider when choosing a tarp?

  • Which hammock do you have?
    • Both Skjold 10 and Skjold 13 work well with Draumr Double, but if you want a little more space for storing equipment and staying under the tarp next to your bed, Skjold 13 may be the best choice with Draumr Double.
  • Is weight and pack size important to you?
    • Skjold 10 is lighter and packs smaller than Skjold 13.
  • Forest and weather conditions
    • Skjold 13 is wider than Skjold 10 and therefore requires more distance between the suspension points. The sides of Skjold 13 can be closed inwards, like doors, giving you better protection in rough conditions.

Draumr Double is a flying bed stretched between two trees.
It’s the hammock that truly has room for two. A hotel-quality bed in nature all night, and a comfortable sofa with a panoramic view for your morning coffee.

Who is the Draumr Double for?
For anyone who wants to sleep side by side with a partner, a child, or a friend on an outdoor adventure. Bring young, aspiring hammock enthusiasts on their first overnight, or pack Draumr Double for a day trip and enjoy an extra long lunch swinging above the ground.

Check out this video to see and hear feedback from people trying the Draumr Double for the first time.

If you know our Draumr hammocks, you’ll feel right at home with the Double.

It uses two LW (Long Wide) sleeping pads, securely tucked into dedicated pockets at the base. The pads form one part of the structure, while straps, panels, and webbing form the rest.

Central panels keep both users comfortable and prevent sliding toward the middle—so you can relax side by side, worry-free.

Feedback is usually: “surprisingly stable.”
The size of the hammock and the use of two sleeping pads help stabilize the Draumr Double. In addition, the people in the hammock act as counterweights to each other’s movements. If one person shifts and the hammock moves, the weight of the other person helps reduce the motion.

You just have to try it to find your preferred method, there are many ways to do it!

Check out the video below to see our preferred method for getting in and out of Draumr Double. If you like written and illustrated instructions, you’ll find them in our user manual.

Step by step explanation

  • Stand close to the hammock, between the trees it’s suspended from.
  • Grab hold of the panels or straps inside the hammock, or hold on to the ridgeline.
    • Press the hammock down and forward while sitting down in the middle, aligned with the inner mesh pockets.
  • Keep an eye on the straps and trees as you sit down. Because significant forces act on the suspension points, it’s especially important to ensure everything looks secure as weight is applied.
  • Keep one foot on the ground to reduce swinging while sitting down.
  • Lift your other foot in and adjust your position according to the balance point. Hold onto straps, panels, or the ridgeline if it feels unstable.

All our Fjøl sleeping pads come with a pump bag that attaches to the valve for efficient air filling. Take a look at the video below to see how the pump bag works. It is also possible to use electric pumps for our sleeping pads. For Winterlight and Ultralight, you need a pump with a diameter of approx. 21 mm, the valve in Fjøl is a couple of mm larger.

Yes! The chair function on Draumr Double is wonderful - how about we just call it a sofa?

In short, going from lying down to a sofa should be done by tightening the straps in this order: first the middle at the feet, then the foot end, followed by the middle at the back, and finally the back end. Going from sofa back to bed? Do everything in the reverse order.

Chair mode on Draumr Double is a team effort.

  • Sit upright in the hammock and shift your balance slightly backward. Try to lift as much weight as possible off the foot end before tightening the straps there.
    • Tighten the straps using both hands: pull the strap end with one hand while pushing with the other.
  • One person tightens the strap in the middle at the feet, then each of you can take your side at the foot end.
  • Lean slightly forward, take the weight off the back portion of the hammock, and tighten the straps the same way—middle first, then each side.
  • Adjust the tension to switch between chair, armchair, and sunbed positions.

All Draumr hammocks come with two aluminum poles that are inserted into small pockets at the head and foot of the hammock. The poles help to stretch out the fabric of the hammock, this is especially relevant when the bug net is in use. It creates a more spacious feeling when you are in the hammock. If you arrive at camp and realize that you've left the poles at home, cut to length sticks will serve the same purpose.

The Draumr Double comes with two pairs of aluminum poles, one for each “bed".

Yes, all our Draumr hammocks come with bug nets, they are permanently attached in the right-hand corner. Three sliders on the zipper make it easier to create openings where you want them. The mosquito net is made from Ammolight 20 fabric, which is very durable and keeps out both gnats and mosquitoes. The bug net is deployed above the ridgeline so that you can access it from inside the hammock, meaning you can hang packing bags and similar items from the ridgeline even when the bug net is in place.

Like the other Draumr hammocks, Draumr Double comes with a fixed bug net with a zipper that runs all the way around the hammock. Super-strong suspension straps are included, along with two pairs of aluminum poles (four in total) to help spread the bug net and hammock fabric. You’ll also get some decorative Amok stickers and a deck of cards—perfect for outdoor adventures. Everything comes in the hammock’s stuff sack, which can also be used for storage inside the hammock while in use. The stuff sack has a strap for compressing the hammock when packing it away.

Draumr Double must be used with suitable sleeping pads. We offer three different LW (Long Wide) sized pads. Sleeping pads from other brands may also work as long as they have similar dimensions and structure to our Fjøl pads. Note that Draumr Double does come with sleeping pads, they are sold separately as accessories.

The suspension straps for Draumr hammocks have a loop at one end and a buckle at the other. Wrap the strap around the tree, thread the buckle end through the loop at the other end, and tighten. Then, thread the strap’s buckle through the compatible buckle on the hammock—it’s that simple.

  • Color coding on the hammock shows the setup direction: red on the left, green on the right, as viewed from inside the hammock.
  • The tip of the triangular buckle should point toward the tree.
  • Pull the remaining end of the strap to tighten, and pull the color-coded loop (red or green) to loosen.
  • For optimal setup, aim for a 25–30° angle from the hammock to the tree, slightly below the strap.

Take weight differences between you and your hammock partner into account.
The strap height should be adjusted according to weight. Simply put: if one of you is heavier, that side’s strap should be attached higher on the tree. This may mean the ridgeline isn’t perfectly straight, but the most important thing is that it’s tight. You might have to adjust a few times to find the perfect setup for you.

Note: Draumr Double places significant forces on suspension points—always hang your hammock on healthy, sturdy trees.

Draumr has several pockets and storage options for the things you need to have close at hand. With small carabiners, you can hang up a lamp or an extra pack bag from the ridgeline, for example. In the corner, there is a pocket suitable for storing shoes. The bottle holder can hold a 1-liter bottle, and the small mesh pockets have room for a cell phone or a small book. A little tip from us is to put the clothes you bring with you into the hammock, behind the side panels, that way they stay in place and you get a little extra insulation on the perimetere of the sleeping pad.

In the Draumr Double, you have one corner pocket each + your own mesh pocket and bottle holder.
